Craftsmanship & Community

A legacy built on tradition, carried forward with pride.

Over 50 years ago, the Demoskoff name became synonymous with woodworking excellence in the Kootenays. It began with Peter Demoskoff, a master door maker who dedicated his life to the art of joinery.

Working alongside fellow craftsmen, Peter believed in the power of traditional materials. He famously sourced timber locally—often from the nearby Kalesnikoff Lumber mill—selecting and kiln-drying special slabs that he knew would transform into the region’s most beautiful and durable doors.

Meeting a Community Need

As Peter entered his senior years, his passion for the craft evolved into a mission for his neighbours. Recognizing that his community lacked options for high-quality, affordable windows, he founded Peter’s Custom Doors & More.

What started as a specialized woodshop grew into a full-service destination for homeowners. As the business expanded, Peter brought his son into the shop, passing down the “old-school” techniques and the meticulous attention to detail that remains our hallmark today.
